Higher education discrimination laws have undergone significant changes since the last NACUA Discrimination Law Workshop. The U.S. Supreme Court decided Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President & Fellows of Harvard, striking down the use of race-based affirmative action programs in college admissions. Conflict in the Middle East prompted an outpouring of expressive activity on campuses and an uptick in Title VI discrimination claims and OCR investigations. Additionally, on January 20, 2025, a new administration took office that campaigned on making drastic changes to America’s education system, including altering discrimination laws and scaling back diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. This is only a snapshot of the constantly evolving landscape that discrimination law professionals are navigating.
Join us in San Antonio, TX for this year’s discrimination law workshop on the evolution of higher education discrimination law, where panelists will discuss legal developments, operational considerations, and practical advice related to:
- The changing legal landscape of DEIB;
- Religious discrimination and accommodations;
- Title IX;
- Title VI;
- Athletics, including gender equity;
- Student and employee disability laws and accommodations, and more.
In addition to panel sessions, discussion groups will allow participants to exchange ideas, pose questions, and share experiences and solutions on important topics with colleagues in an informal setting.
Who Should Attend?
This program is at the intermediate-advanced level. Presenters presume attendees have some familiarity and experience with higher education discrimination law.
